This is only the Internet part of my lecture. I will make no efforts to keep this page updated. The Internet is in constant flux. Links that this document refers to might have moved, changed or vanished. Still I hope that you will find it useful.

I welcome any comments by e-mail to richard.gatarski@bat.se

Introduction and overview

The presenter Richard Gatarski is currently finalizing his PhD dissertation at the School of Business, Stockholm University. More about him at his commercial and scientific sites.

We briefly discussed brands, please see one of my 1996 presentations.
When it comes to books, I recommend these.

Relationship Marketing

Just a few points to set the stage.

More at the next meeting with Ola Feurst

E-commerce

The bubble has bursted

E still right, but lots of:

  • wrong needs
  • wrong solutions
  • wrong businesses

What motivates your partners?

Customer Conversation

Here are but a few of the situations I presented.

See also Interactive Media face Artificial Consumers, and marketing theory must re-think published in Journal of Marketing Communications as well as in Marketing Communications Classics.

Hate sites

Love Sites

Other types

and sometimes pioneers mess things up:
CNET News.com - Members angry over Netscape forums shutdown

Post PC & Internet

The computer are in our homes...including the kitchen!

Some kitchen information appliances:
Microwave oven computer from NCR's knowledge lab.
icebox from CMI.

And my own kitchen with a Toshiba Equium 2000.

See also Kitchengate, live test with computerized refrigerators.

In the future we will likely see more than Digital Television. It holds promises of intelligent appliances, wireless communication pads, personal digital assistants, multimedia cars, communicating toys, etc.

WebPad from National Semiconductor
The StoryBox
Kids PDA from Cybiko
Barcode scanner from Connectthings

Cyberpen, used by ISO in Denmark
GM's car computer network OnStar
The iRobot
My Real Baby from Hasbro
Digital TV recorder from Tivo
Netradio from Kerbango
Itsy platform from Compaq

The development of connecting computers in a big network (Internet) is currently turned towards connecting computers in separate network (islands).
